Within post-secondary institutions across Ontario, we all strive to deliver programs and services that enable our students to navigate and prepare themselves for the future of work.  Achieving this takes teamwork, and support around health and wellness for staff has never been more critical to the successful achievement of strategic plans and goals, particularly since coming through the COVID years.  Join us for an engaging presentation, where we will share our staff wellness strategy, linked to the Okenagan Charter, and how it is operationalized and continues to evolve to support life/work balance for staff.  Some key learning points from the session will include:

  • Importance of creating time and focus on staff wellness.
  • Value of a positive, healthy environment to attract, support and retain staff.
  • Significance of providing autonomy to staff to shape the wellness agenda.
  • Benefits of offering a variety of wellness topics, measuring and reporting on outcomes, to inform future wellness initiatives and create a sense of belonging.

Session Hosts:

Hannah Meagher, Instructional Support Co-ordinator, Centre for Work Integrated learning, University of Waterloo

Ross Johnston, Executive Director, Co-operative Education, University of Waterloo
